Over the years, Alimak has had the opportunity to provide vertical access to the construction, restoration and preservation of some of the world's most famous landmarks.

This section of the Alimak web site remembers some of the greatest and often most complicated projects that our company has been involved with.

		Australian Parliament, Canberra, Australia Two Alimak rack and pinion elevators have remained in operation at Parliament House for 25 years, servicing the central flagpole from which the Australian flag flies.
		CN-tower, Toronto, Canada The world's highest climbing construction hoists with lifting height of 450 m was used during construction of the tower.
		Halley Survey Base, Antarctica An unusual application for an Alimak freight elevator involves a unit that was supplied for the Halley Survey Base, Brunt Ice Shelf, Antarctica in 1983.
		Eiffel Tower, Paris, France In 1983, it was time to restore the classical monument and Alimak suggested a unique solution for vertical access.
		Arc de Triomphe, Paris, France For the FF 34 million renovation project of the Arc de triomphe in 1989 – the first in its 180 year history – an Alimak men and materials hoist was used to provide sub-contractors' access to the six landing floors erected.
		Les Invalides, Paris, France At the end of the 1980's, a major refurbishment programme commenced. Alimak was chosen to supply the necessary construction hoists and platforms to enable the contractor to gain access to various parts of the extensive site.
		Louvre Museum, Paris, France The Grand Louvre Project aiming at enlarging and modernising the Louvre Museum is carried through between 1981 and 1999. A transport platform from Alimak was installed on one of the facades of the Louvre.
		Notre Dame, Paris, France The Paris cathedral is one of the finest examples of gothic architcture. The cornerstone was laid in 1163 and the church was completed in 1250. Alimak is proud to assist in preserving the beauty of the cathedral in the 1990's.
		Statue of Liberty, New York, USA An Alimak construction hoist was used during renovation for the statue's 100th birthday.
		Torre de Collserola, Barcelona, Spain Two permanent Alimak panorama elevators installed at the television tower – the Torre de Collserola – which was built as part of Barcelona's preparations for the 1992 Olympic Games.
		Washington Monument, Washington, D.C., USA The monument was in desperate need of repair due to the natural aging and weathering. The USD 9.4 million restoration project began in the autumn of 1998. A 1800 kg capacity Alimak construction hoist was chosen.
		Royal Opera House, London, UK Alimak special elevator with 24,000 kg payload capacity for transporting a fully loaded lorry.
		CERN Large Hadron Collider, Franco-Swiss boarder Two Alimak special elevators at the world´s largest and highest-energy particle accelerator.
